Jan - Member and Trainer

“We started learning with Helen as complete raw novices. Her patient and thorough training is helping us to do it the 'right' way. We have just started competing and are having a blast!.”

“ We started our journey In Helen's foundation class. It was great to have such clear and directed training, it cemented strong basics that meant we have made great progress in agility journey.
The training has been fun, challenging and is tailored to all the dogs to suit their individual needs. The club environment has been great, the equipment is fab! A lovely club to be part of!”

Barkers Philosophy
My parents were breeders of Labradors, so from a very young age my only mission was to own a chocolate Labrador! This spread to gundogs in general, and I now have two working Cocker Spaniels.
Having Trained with the well known dog guru Kim Hunt I was hooked on her training methods in foundation agility training and soon trained with her more in Obedience. I'm now a qualified Kennel Club Judge.
Having been a Teacher and Leader for 20 years, my skills set is transferable and I enjoy sharing the journey . I specialise in teaching and learning strategies and this has helped me maximise progress on training.
Having a creative background, my observational skills are high and I'm good at spotting your individual needs. I give much attention to understanding the dogs path and safety: flowing courses that are suited to a range of abilities.
I'm passionate that all my students follow the foundation programme, setting you up for success.
The Pack
Tess is the family dog, mix Newfoundland, working cocker, she has done obedience and some foundations in agility, she is now 12 and has arthritis so enjoys looking after the pack. I have 2 working cocker spaniels Ruby who is grade 6 and a very honest dog, she has had surgery last year and it's incredible she's come back at the same level she loves the mental stimulation and it keeps her fit and healthy. Winner of ABBA League 25, 1st In ABBA Gundog league, 3rd In Gundog League 24, 2nd Gundog league 23 & 22.
Fred is a rescue working cocker spaniel I have had since 21 months old and he has been doing foundations for agility and has his Bronze KC Obedience, he's also placed on the rescue agility league already, he has a very shiny future ahead of him, he just wants to work, building his confidence is most important.
Tilly is my sister's working cocker Spaniel who is 10 months old, I have also started foundations with her and will be taking part in some agility, she is very excited by tunnels.
